Analogue Reel to Reel Repairs and Maintenance
Company director Jeff Knight has been repairing and maintaining 1/4″ to 2″ reel to reel tape recorders for nearly 40 years. In fact, Technical Workshops’ first service contract was with the Studer/Revox importers, Syntec International. Contracts with Tascam/TEAC, Sony and Fostex soon followed while other brands including Otari, Ampex and MCI were also well catered for. Unfortunately with many parts becoming hard or impossible to obtain and machines becoming just worn out or uneconomical to repair, we can now only provide support for Revox/Studer and Tascam/Teac.
Revox/Studer – Technical Workshops is the Australian authorised Revox service and spare parts agent and, while the company no longer produces recorders, many parts for their reel to reels are still available including A77, B77, PR99 and C-Series machines.
Tascam/Teac – Support is still reasonable from the factory for common parts including pinch rollers and belts.
An in house head re-lapping service, (done by hand), is available for heads from 1/4″ to 2″.
